Ingredients

Fish-free Filets

  • 14 oz extra-firm tofu (400 g)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ½ cup panko bread crumbs
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon dulse flakes
  • 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Drain the tofu well and press with a clean towel.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine all wet ingredients for the marinade.
  3. In another shallow bowl, combine all the dry ingredients and mix them well.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Slice the tofu into ½-inch sticks lengthwise. Dunk them one by one in the wet mixture, then dredge in the crumb mixture.
  6. Once each tofu stick is well-coated, place it on your prepared baking sheet and continue with the remaining tofu. Make sure the sticks don’t touch each other on the sheet!
  7. Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes, turning once about halfway through.
  8. Serve alongside potato wedges or chips and vegan tartar sauce.

Notes

  • Feel free to add some paprika or cayenne pepper to the mixture!
