This selection of mouth-watering vegan donuts proves that you don’t need animal products for a delicious treat! The following spelt doughnuts are on the healthier side and a family favorite.

Ingredients

Wholesome Vegan Donuts

  • 1 cup spelt flour (120 g)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup applesauce (125 g)
  • ⅓ cup maple syrup (100 g)
  • ⅓ cup dairy-free yogurt (86 g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and get a non-stick donut pan.
  2. Combine all of the dry ingredients in a bowl: flour, cinnamon, and baking powder. Add a pinch of salt if wanted.
  3. In another bowl, combine all of the wet ingredients: applesauce, maple syrup, yogurt, and vanilla extract. Pour over your dry ingredients and whisk until smooth.
  4. Spoon the mixture into your prepared donut pan and place in the preheated oven.
  5. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the donuts have risen beautifully and have a golden-brown top.
  6. Let your freshly baked donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them onto a cooling rack. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use all-purpose, gluten-free, or whole-wheat flour for this recipe. The texture will turn out slightly different with each.
