This selection of mouth-watering vegan donuts proves that you don’t need animal products for a delicious treat! The following spelt doughnuts are on the healthier side and a family favorite.
Serves 8 donuts

Ingredients

Wholesome Vegan Donuts

  • 1 cup spelt flour 120 g
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup applesauce 125 g
  • cup maple syrup 100 g
  • cup dairy-free yogurt 86 g
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and get a non-stick donut pan.
  • Combine all of the dry ingredients in a bowl: flour, cinnamon, and baking powder. Add a pinch of salt if wanted.
  • In another bowl, combine all of the wet ingredients: applesauce, maple syrup, yogurt, and vanilla extract. Pour over your dry ingredients and whisk until smooth.
  • Spoon the mixture into your prepared donut pan and place in the preheated oven.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes until the donuts have risen beautifully and have a golden-brown top.
  • Let your freshly baked donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them onto a cooling rack. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use all-purpose, gluten-free, or whole-wheat flour for this recipe. The texture will turn out slightly different with each.
