Ingredients

Pizza crust

  • 1 ¼ cups whole wheat flour 150 g
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs dried
  • ½ salt
  • ½ cup warm water 120 ml

Toppings

  • ½ - ¾ cup tomato sauce about 160 ml
  • ½ small onion sliced
  • ¼ bell pepper sliced
  • 2 cherry tomatoes sliced
  • 3 tbsp corn kernels
  • 3 small button mushrooms sliced
  • 1 oz smoked tofu diced (30 g)

Optional

Instructions

Make the crust

  • Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl, add warm water and knead well. Adjust water and flour in case the dough is too sticky or too dry.
  • Form dough into a ball and let it sit in a warm place, covered, for 20 minutes.
  • Alternatively, you can use any store-bought vegan pizza dough.
  • Preheat your oven to 400° F (200° C) and get a baking sheet or pan.

Prepare the toppings

  • Wash, chop or rinse all of the vegan pizza toppings your kid will love and place them next to each other on a plate or in little bowls.
  • Ask your children if they want to help make the pizza!

Make the pizza

  • Once the dough has risen, flour a clean surface and briefly knead it.
  • Use your hands or a rolling pin to work the dough into a 12” circle, then transfer it to your parchment paper-lined pizza pan or baking sheet.
  • Spread your tomato sauce evenly on the crust with a spoon, then sprinkle all desired toppings on your pizza crust!
  • Put the pizza in the oven for around 20 minutes or until the crust is golden on the edges. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • While it is healthier to make your own whole-grain pizza crust, if you’re in a hurry or don’t want to make your own crust, simply use any store-bought pizza crust (check the label to see if it’s vegan).
  • Depending on what your kids like, you can add any mock meats, vegan cheese or olives etc. to your pizza.
  • You can swap the whole wheat flour for gluten-free if needed.
