Ingredients

Vegan burger patties

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1.5 cups finely chopped mushrooms
  • 1.5 cups black beans
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add olive oil. Once hot, add onions and mushrooms. Cook for 5-8 minutes or until soft.
  • Add beans, rice, spices, and nuts. Stir until well combined.
  • Transfer to a food processor and pulse a few times to combine. Don’t overdo it, or it will turn mushy!
  • Adjust to taste preferences, then form 6 patties with your hands.
  • If the texture is it’s too crumbly, add some water. If it’s too wet, add more of the dry ingredients you used.
  • Line up the patties on a baking sheet. Put them in a preheated oven at 350 °F (180 °C) for 15 minutes, flip over, and bake for another 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can fry the patties in oil using a skillet — this will only take 3-5 minutes for each side.
  • Serve warm on your favorite bun alongside your favorite vegan burger fixings!

Notes

  • Feel free to add lots of delicious spices like soy sauce, paprika, pepper, and anything else you like.
