16 oz extra firm tofu 450 g, pressed for 30 minutes 1 teaspoon soy sauce 2 teaspoons sesame oil 2 teaspoons cornstarch Teriyaki Dipping Sauce ½ cup soy sauce 120 ml ¼ cup sugar 50 g 1 teaspoon cornstarch ½ teaspoon ground ginger 1 tablespoon rice vinegar ¼ cup water 60 ml
Cut the tofu into cubes, slices, or triangles.
Add soy sauce and cornstarch to a medium-sized bowl. Add the tofu and toss to coat. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add the sesame oil. Once it’s hot, add the coated tofu.
Cook, occasionally stirring, until it’s crispy on all sides. Remove from heat and set the tofu aside.
Place a small pot over medium heat and add all ingredients for the Teriyaki sauce. Whisk to dissolve the cornstarch, then bring to a boil.
Whisk frequently until the sauce has thickened. Adjust flavors to preferences, then let the sauce cool for a few minutes.
Serve the fried tofu alongside your Teriyaki Dipping Sauce and garnish with scallions and sesame.
Use tamari instead of soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
Serve with some veggies and cooked rice!
